this. there were definitely people outspoken about the war, but the majority, especially in nyc, was at least somewhat supportive of it
i got let out of school early that day and remember seeing mad military on the BQE with assault rifles just standing there when i was walking home
imagine seeing that, knowing people that died in there, seeing the smoke from the towers invade your neighborhood
we were all ready to get in there and take them out
the probably wasn’t retaliating, the problem was we went after the wrong people and completely failed at our mission of stopping terrorism. we made it worse
S***...we didn't go after the wrong people. The government knew exactly what they were trying to do when trying to justify invading Iraq. 9/11 was just a "blessing."
Colin Powell presenting us with information they had WMDs and then finding out they didn't is still crazy to me. Then turning around like...well..Sadam is dead, so it was still the right decision.
RIP to all lives lost.
United States and US citizens disgusts me
how they all cool w their government f***ing up all the world lol
As someone who's lived here my entire life I can say no one I personally knew supported the war, the media may have made it look different but I will say there was so much propaganda at the time to try and get us to go with it and no one was buying it even with 9/11 in mind. Just my anecdotal but only time I saw anyone for it was on TV

Man I remember the live news broadcast that day when it showed gunfire over Baghdad from a Night Vision camera in realtime. It was surreal to watch.
Recent video from Afghanistan
honestly my hot take is we took our troops out of afghanistan too quickly and allowed the positives to be undone
It wasnt his sole reason for victory at all
you’re right he also invaded afghanistan
Innocent people died here too
i literally just said that I didn’t support the war in retrospect
hindsight is always 20/20
it’s crazy how much the US government exploited their population through 9/11 guilt tripping and how the entirety of the country took it hook line and sinker for 15 years

what positives
the attempted reconstruction of afghanistan is a ghost of what it was before the tribes fought against the government in 1979 and the country is led by a weak puppet while the US negotiating with the Taliban

I mean yeah I use the term loosely
The ideal outcome for afghanistan was no one f***ing with it in the mid 20th century.
I dont see how us occupied afghanistan was a worse place to be than when the taliban controlled you. That doesnt mean america is good, just better. I know you're Afghan so if you wanna correct me then feel free
Well not only for that but the Iraq War was the first thing that made me realize how s***ty the United States could be so I have a special hatred in my heart for this bullshit war
