and going from a sublet with a roommate to being able to live in a 2k a month apartment solo COMFORTABLY while working/putting a good portion of 200k into savings and other investments changes my life by a LOT

expected value, contextual circumstances, and relative value all matter. 200K : 40M vs 1B : 4B, i consider these different decisions, both of which expected value would be part of.
you mentioned something earlier about if someone does not know what to do with 200K to presumably make significant returns on, then they have no business risking for 40M. not sure i get what you mean.
I mean the guy who is smart and takes the 200k will invest it wisely and have more money in 10,20,30 years than the guy who wins the toss. Only caveat is if you already have enough money that $200k is insignificant enough to risk getting nothing
