Metro himself said the reason was because their last record together (excluding My Collection and Sorry) was Mask Off, so they want the next one they do for a Future record to feel just as big and important.
Also, Metro hasn’t done much production outside of his own records since 2017, so it’s obviously not directly related to Future.
