Kendrick isn't label free but he does have a better deal and more freedom to release what he wants outside of UMGs control. That's why 616 in LA is still only on his IG, while Drake was forced to release 100 Gigs on streaming platforms. That's not a label playing favorites that's just reaping the benefits of a better contract while they push your hot song. I don't think Drake's deal is anything to envy. That's why he wants out of it

What you are saying is correct.

What I’m trying to explain is that majority of folks acted like Kendrick had a major reason to go after Drake like he was doing the rap game a favor and that he had a 100% clean beef performance without any help or push from the label.

They have history and there were rumblings of Drake being a slimeball behind the scenes in the industry. Even publicly he was doing weird things like going at Meg the stallion for no reason. All these things played a part

Who said Drake wasnt? I literally said he was not a saint. Ofc he is backed by big corp.

My issue is that Kendrick is backed too, even more than Drake on this beef. but everybody acted like he came with the natural hits and strategy instead of realizing they were 2 sides of the same coin. He was not the rap savior he was just envy that Drake was #1 but the narrative was that Drake was a villain or something.

I totally agree with this. This is the truth. Why is everybody acting like Kendrick was label’s free?

Like, in the eyes of everybody Drake deserved the heat because he was “lame” or something, the pdf allegations was the only thing they could back. Why not accept that Kendrick was envy of his spot?

Yes. I just clearly said that track was popped everywhere. Can you tell me why would that song play on all my mom’s playlists even if she doesn’t care or listen to the genre? It happened with my girl too, she even told me “why I keep getting this song every time? It’s getting annoying” .

People like it? Yes, Was it pushed heavily by the label? Yes. Both things can be true.
