Listened to the first one, still going to get to the second one later, just been a busy week
I knew I was gonna enjoy this from the first song. While I wouldn't consider myself well-versed in Japanese music by any means, I've always appreciated the city pop albums I've heard. Now, I don't think I'd classify this album as city pop, but the fantastic female vocals and high quality recordings I love from that genre are still here. The textures on this album are just amazing, s*** felt like a massage for my ears. Everything about the project manages to sound incredibly "soft" without sacrificing any detail. I wish I could comment on the songwriting, but seeing as I don't speak Japanese, that probably isn't going to happen. Regardless, very pleasant listen from front to back, and I can definitely see myself revisiting this as a comfort album.
Friendly reminder deadline is ideally tomorrow!

All killer no filler. BANGERS throughout .Dont speak fluent espanol so I listen to the music like I would listen to any glossolalia carried project . The glossolalia thing is what makes this click. The voice is doing more than lyrics. Half the time it feels like rhythm, slang, percussion, or just a signal to move. The words matter, but they are not the only place the meaning is happening. That is why it still hits even when the language is not fully available. A chant can make sense physically before it makes sense literally and a repeated phrase starts to feel like a command. The delivery tells you when something is funny, sexual (OD h**** album if you canāt tell by the cover), aggressive, or just meant to turn the room up. It is not rough or random either it sounds locked into its own rules The drums are direct because they do not need to prove anything. The voices already carry the chaos, the jokes, the pressure, the movement. Everything is built around impact. That is the part that feels closer to glossolalia than just espanol music It is not about words becoming meaningless. It is about sound carrying meaning before translation catches up. This is going into the rotation for sure, as Iāve been trying to listen to shangaan electro (thatās not this project at all though)

I wonāt lie, Iāve been listening to this passively for 2 weeks and nothing has stuck out. But it is a terrific, non-offensive album to just let play all the way through for hours at a time. Also never got bored of it in any way. I will check his other stuff though due to the ease of listening.

Pretentious on my end kinda but the album is closest to like avant garde pop / Kate bush type s*** than traditional city pop imo. Definite agree that itās texture so so well. I went back and played a few tracks last night since itās been a while and track five is such a treat on the ears. Super breezy listen. Thanks for going in with open ears

Fishmans - Kuuchuu Camp

This the first album besides maybe the pick from @eversince week one Iāve actually enjoyed running back over and over.
This was my first Fishmans project in full despite having Night Cruising saved already. From the beginning I could tell this was going to be something up my alley. Deceptively āsimpleā if you arenāt paying attention structures that are wonderfully textured, immaculately mixed and just groovy. By my 3rd or 4th listen every song ended up saved even the ones I wasnāt feeling on the listens prior. The rocksteady drums, bassline and just weird vocal s*** on the outro is my highlight. Just superbly chill and again arranged perfectly.
Some great synth passages all throughout the album courtesy of some guest musicians. Idk i actually canāt gush about the album enough. My only like qualm is something that I feel is lowkey by design? The songs can feel like they just go on and on sometimes so depending on my mood I can kinda zone out but I feel like thatās also part of what dub music is, some s*** you can just rock to.

Real. Yeah this is one of his earlier albums. He never gets experimental in the common sense of the word. But he goes into strange, classical, melodic pastures towards the middle and end of his career. This album was the beginning of his peak period.
His masterpiece is a collab album with lo borges, clube de esquina. A beautiful album.
Listening to your rec tonight after work.

Iāll be sure to check out that collab. Nothing sticks out may be the wrong wording but itās def a safe album that I could let run in the garage/house all day and not get bored.

going into this project i truly didnt know what to expect but from the cover art i had a feeling this would be decent at best.
when i tell you my mouth was on the floor the entire album. this s*** was amazing. completely unexpected and i didnt understand not one word (listened to the RU version) but i enjoyed this more than 85% of american music made in the last decade
these two women, these beauties of talent, remind me of dido and pinkpantheress doing the fusion dance
but in 2001!
this album is full of samples, hyperpop influence (ahead of its time fr), and even some hip hop influence. they bodied this album and i couldnt just pick a couple songs to save to my library, i added the whole thing. even the remix of 30 minut (which is insane because it might be better than the og, which was already a treat for me lol)
i havent given any of these albums i was recommended a score yet but i have to do it for this one because it was honestly a great listening experience.
10/10.
