Alvvays - Blue Rev

i still think this is missing something
im not sure what. it lacks the charm and colorfulness of their earlier work. I really like antisocialites and there's a handful of great songs on blue rev. i dont think it's a bad album but i don't find myself that excited to replay a song or the whole album. 7/10
Wolf Alice - Blue Weekend
One of my fav album of the 20s
this project was rly enjoyable, surprisingly eclectic at times, sometimes gives me arctic monkeys/elastica, sometimes cocteau/4ad. definitely coming back to this one, i definitely see why its a classic to you for sure.

Blue Rev grew on me super super slowly, itās not necessarily as instantly catchy or poppy as their other stuff. But the highs are really great and feel great. I donāt love it as a whole album but over the years Iāve gotten into more songs off it
@YungPapi I give you
Red House Painters - Red House Painters (Rollercoaster)
https://open.spotify.com/album/3F9xD3Dg2zu2LZbVHdKeVD?si=iXl73JbJSvusXWc6tRkzWg

Really liked this, wasnāt what I was expecting at all. Some of the lyrics just hit like a brick out of nowhere and the playing was pretty immaculate at times. Didnāt love the super long songs toward the end but ended up saving more than half the album overall
7.5/10 need more time with it to go any higher but love what I heard

yea im a sucker for catchy n poppy music
i still enjoyed it a lot though. it starts off strong, the middle is ok, and the last stretch is pretty good, too. I feel like the shoegaze elements is why this album is regarded as highly as it is

glad you enjoyed it
i kinda threw you something different right away
slowcore sometimes requires the right mood for it, esp considering the lyrical context in that project. if u ever get your heartbroken make sure to revisit it
i got rollercoaster songs saved in my heartbreak playlist
it hits where it hurts the most

Red Headed Stranger - Willie Nelson
Iāve been listening to Zach Bryan a lot this past week so I was already in the yeehaw mood for this. Compared to him this is a bit more country with a touch of blues as well. This that sundown slowdancing in a saloon music. I like how he included 3 different versions of Time of the Preacher, idk if it was an artistic decision or just how it was at the time. The runtime is not long either so it was an easy listen all throughout
Fav songs:
Time of the preacher
Blue eyes crying the rain
Oāer the waves
Down Yonder - this that saloon dance music
Can I sleep in your arms - catsky.gif

Yeah thatās why I listened to it in pieces all week in like quiet moments. I almost started it at the gym but as soon as I heard Grace Cathedral start I was like nahhhhh lmao
Extreme standouts for me- Grace Cathedral Park, Mistress, Rollercoaster, Dragonflies and Strawberry Hill

ok i will write it in an hour :) i listened to it once i wanna listen again before writing my thoughts!
Sugar - Copper Blue
It was a very solid listen. I have been a fan of Husker Du for a long time (they were one of my most played bands in college) but never got around to checking out anything Bob Mould did afterward. This mostly sounds like a continuation of the more Bob Mould-focused songs towards the end of Husker Du's career without the distinctive rhythm section and production. It does feel a bit more focused and mature overall even if it doesn't have as much of the spark that Husker Du had. I'm honestly not a huge fan of his voice sometimes but on this album I don't have any problem with it. The guitar work with Mould's trademark buzzy tone and occasionally really good hook melodies are the strongest part of the album. Fits right in the alternative musical landscape of 1992 too which only goes to show how influential Mould/Husker Du were. It's even a little shoegazy at times which I think works well.
off first 2 listens i'd say my favorites were The Act We Act, Helpless, Hoover Dam
id give it a 7.5/10 as my first impression
Ok i got it
Enry K - Luz Rosa
One of my fav projects from 2021. One of its strongest points its the production. The lead artist was one of the most prominent hip hop producers of the late 2010s - early 2020s and went for a singing career

@Hndrxx_Free
Ok first of all i really enjoyed it. Especially second listen at the gym.
Made me feel really badass and had fantastic energy. Really fresh youthful sound. Thereās range and contrast in the production, more atmospheric stuff, more braggadocios feeling songs. It was great and sounded very colourful.
Obviously thereās a lot I miss because I donāt understand the language. And since itās more hip hop influenced than like Rosalia, thereās more emphasis on the language and it make me excited to learn Spanish when I get the chance.
Really great pick and something I obviously wouldnāt listen to on my own, that I loved and thatās exactly why Iām on this site and in this thread!
Great pick! Excited to give it more spins, i will re update after more listens in a couple weeks even tho we moved past the album in the thread :)
@early lol, I shouldve given you my thoughts in here but just to add on
I had a great time
The guy has a formula, and itās a solid one. These did begin to get a little stagnant for me at times, but Money Man did hit me with a couple of my fav songs near the end. Whole vibe is just cool as s*** too, I was blasting it on my drives at work
