I feel for Light he got caught up in the dark side

And he wasn't just overpowered he was smart and knew how to use the Death Note to his advantage

We did get to see how in the end He regrets all the crazy s\*\*\* he did, realizes he could've lived a successful life and regrets killing L

the dude was jaded to the point it felt unrealistic, in my opinion. dude wanted to kill his sister at one point, somehow has all the hoes and they're all willing to do anything for him including f\*\*\*ing die, there's a grown ass man at the end who literally calls him God even though the dude just seems like a sheltered and entitled kid on a power trip
I know it sounds like I'm hating but... based on the above, can anybody identify with him? I think the more anime you watch the more you notice it's shortcomings

It's Naruto s*** like Naruto sometimes sympathizes with the villains and THEY have sad backstories

well, in naruto it makes sense...for example nagato's backstory actually justifies his actions cause he's a human being with real tragedy in his life

same goes for obito and every uchiha

Light is pretty handsome no h****and he's top of the class which is respected in Japan

Girls liked him before the Death Note business

Also it's likely that girls will be (ride or die) interested in Kira

It also makes sense that he's a cult-like figure and that he has supporters

And that he has a power trip (since he's so powerful and thinks he's a God)

It's convenient that Misa is madly in love with Kira AND has a death note and the shinigami's eyes but Code Geass had many more contrivances so don't play that card

s***...at this day and age every manga/anime tries to be the next naruto/one piece and the few of them that are original and unique most of the time fail at doing new things or on the other hand become a sensation and push boundaries (mob psycho, monogatari series, fooly cooly, gurren lagann.. etc etc just to name a few)

    Yeah but it’s obvious

    Happens at every mainstream art

Most creative time for anime was the 80s

do you guys ever rewatch any animes or do you just watch whatever seems interesting each season?

Personaly, I've reached a point where I either appreciate more or catch new things on anime I watched like 3 years ago

but mostly I cringe at the s*** I used to like

hmmm...early 2000s is my fav era of anime.

but mangas imo got better with time as the techniques that mangakas use progressed

Never re-watched in my life. Too many good and interesting anime coming out to waste time on stuff I already experienced. Plus there's a lot of older shows that I need to check out as well.

That used to be the case for me but as I grew from a teen to an adult I feel like I can appreciate stuff like adult humor or mature themes behind violence more...

Nah I'd like to, just to better rate s*** I watched when I was younger

But I just get uninterested when I try to, I already experienced the s*** so I find myself stopping after an episode or 2 or messing around on my phone

Tried to rewatch Hellsign, just couldn't hold my attention

my only problem with demon slayer (both anime n manga) is that we get a tragic backstory for a demon that just killed like 100 people for kicks....I'm like breh ...am I supposed to feel bad for him?? f*** no

I feel like he only sympathizes with them because hes seen his own sister turn into a demon and wants to give em the benefit of the doubt

It also gives some pretty dope scenes like when he changes the attack to kill the mother in the forest after he sees her long for death. I can definitely see how it doesn't make sense to feel bad for the 5 kizuki at the end though

his sister didnt kill anyone though...at least that's what tanjirou told the pillars in her defense

Rewatched KLK once to see if it still holds up for me bc I was a teen when it first came out and in that age you get excited by anything. Same reason why I rewatched TTGL and Eva. I want to rewatch actually a lot of stuff now, just to see if I actually still like it or im just fond of my memories enjoying it 10 years ago.
For example I wanted to rewatch Code Glass but I couldn't make it past 5 episodes. I don't think I like it now.

death note just feels like a keyboard warrior fantasy
code Geass has the same sort of young man creating a revolution in a society based on their views and for sure the whole mind control thing is 'cheap,' but I think they made an effort to show that Lelouch is still human. like when nunally was the queen of the opposing faction and she reprimanded him for his actions as zero and he acted coldly but the animation made it clear that it broke his heart to do so
I guess it comes down to what you like in a show like death note/code Geass, since they're fundamentally v similar. I think appealing to a shared emotion between the viewer and character is more powerful than what death note did

Lelouch had a plan to avenge his father so it’s not completely out of good will it’s of personal bias and grudge

This is no different than Light whose agenda was killing all the criminals to make an ideal world without crime, but eventually became addicted to the power and it was more about ruling the world and defeating L

Light is more human because it’s very human to have that change, Lelouch is “perfect” because he is always right and always good till the very end, this is despite him controlling people’s minds which could be seen as unethical, but the anime makes it impossible to be on anyone’s side who isn’t Lelouch

Also a lot of the times Lelouch takes a bet and wins because of pure luck, it happens on Death Note too but it’s more common in Code Geass

I enjoyed Code Geass and was very invested in it, thought it was crazy and intense, so no hate on the anime I just think it’s not as well written as Death Note

Rewatched some parts of naruto a couple months ago, realized that naruto wasn’t some kid that came from nothing storyline lol like he was destined to become the next great ninja because of lineage. Knowing how it ends and how his Tory develops feel a lot different and kind of worse than I’d remembered. I don’t rewatch things though.
