What even happened in this first ep of wonder egg? Visuals were next level but i would be lying if i said i got it
Only thing i could think of was that her first friend killed herself since she never interfered with the bullying and now in this dream (dek if they are dreams cause in the end she actually gets hurt) of hers she finally stops ignoring those signs plus "bringing her back to life" is probably a way of saying that she will find peace with her death but nothing else

Main narrative themes so far seem to be about standing up to bullying. First episode got this through in a lot of ways: the school announcement saying that if you see bullying you should ignore it, the monsters being called Seeno Evils (see no evil), the monsters ignoring Ai and only attacking the Kurumi, and the ending when Ai decides to interfere and save Kurumi even though Ai could guarantee her own safety if she just stayed out of it.

You could probably throw in a ton of other themes the show is aiming for too: coming to terms with the past and moving on from grief, survivor's guilt, and creating true, genuine relationships with people.

WEP is asking the audience to actually invest some thought into the series instead of holding their hands. Either keep up or get off. It might alienate some viewers who aren't used to anime like this but I think that's a worthwhile tradeoff for more interesting and challenging art, which is something anime is sorely lacking.

Aot and wep really the only thought provoking anime to have come out recently, at least from what ive seen lately. So much to unpack each episode
