In my eyes, it's one of the GOAT anime in terms of writing.

Alright I’ll watch Rakugo after I finish the last 12 episodes of Eureka Seven. I typically watch 2 completed shows at a time so I’ll be watching it along with Your Lie in April

gonna need that link to your anime list tho

My AniList where I actually write my thoughts on shows and actually make sure my scores are accurate (anilist.co/user/13Thieves/animelist)

My MAL I guess, but the scores are pretty outdated and I don't bother writing my thoughts on anything on it. (myanimelist.net/animelist/13_Thieves)

    Neon Genesis Evangelion - 8/10

    Plot doesn't matter.

I was at around 500-something completions on my AniList/MyAnimeList accounts before I finally got around to this one. I used to think to myself that I was being dumb for taking so long to finally watch what many consider the most influential anime of all time, but I'm glad I did wait that long. If I watched this show back when I was the type of person who was plot-focused and only cared about what events were happening in a show, I would have thought Neon Genesis Evangelion was a pile of s***. Now, I find theme, character, and visual-focused storytelling more interesting, and Evangelion seems to agree with me.

The show put so much love and care into the character writing and its portrayal of the characters. These are lonely, broken characters who are desperately in need of love and human connection, but making yourself vulnerable and exposing yourself to others opens up the possibility of being hurt. It's a tough dilemma, a big theme throughout the story, and the true point of the show in my opinion (among other themes such as anti-escapism.)

I was a huge fan of the presentation. In a show that focuses so much on loneliness and isolation, the scene composition did a great job of communicating the feelings of emotional distance between characters. They also did a good job of communicating the feelings of characters through visual cues such as a pointed look or the clenching of a character’s fist instead of using unnecessary exposition.

I can see how people might not like the ending because some of the plot points basically got ignored, but I think it was appropriate. Evangelion is a character study first and foremost despite the robots, monsters, fights, and conspiracy theories. Remember, plot doesn't matter.

I love to describe the series as a cage, the people who worked on it is almost like struggling to keep their crazies caged in cause they tryna maintain coherence but we still see "cracks" every once a while

EoE though, man. They let it all loose. One of the most maximal thing to ever actualized in this medium, an absolute f*** all. If you just want to sit back and soak it all in this is the one

You prob don't need more reason but Rakugo is an essential if you want to immerse in more japanese cultures. Show is a great execution of what it has to present.

I'm looking forward to EoE. I know I said plot doesn't matter in my review, but I do kinda wanna see how it all gets wrapped up lol. Plus I fell in love with so many of the characters, so I wanna see more of em.

Show just made me keep wanting to watch

Had to go back and rewatch those charles and ray episodes after I was done too

But yeah I'm a few in ao now and it doesn't seem like it's gonna stack up with the og so far. It'd be tough to get another show at that level tbh
