You have a group of people who think any time Ai is mentioned you just press a button and it spits you out a final product as opposed to looking at it like as your own little team to do other tasks. Make me this car to put in the background of this cover art im designing because i dont want to use stock images. Separate the stems so i can get the drums with no vocals or vice versa. Its way too much different s*** you can do which is why you have generational producers using it but the flipside is that there are definitely lazy mfs just using it to completely remove humans from the artistic process

After all those years of mixtape/sample lawsuits, songs being unreleased due to samples and essentially sample clearance being a huge part of the mixtape landscape dying its legitimately bewildering to me rap fans have pivoted to advocating for paying labels and people like Tom Whalley/letting those types hold up projects. Someone like Dilla or Prime 2000’s Ye would have loved making their own samples from scratch and then chopping them and adding drums

I’m strictly speaking on the people using AI to strictly bypass any creative input.

I’m well aware of the good things AI can do in general (got a friend who when they used to live in cali used to work on AI software that would help detect firezones before they actually happened) and wished more money would be invested in that.

The reason it’s so scrutinized in music is because even if the music created isnt “sampled” the said music that is created is a product of millions of people’s recorded music that is being studied and trained through said AI which…for reasons that are justifiable, have niggas on edge. (And part of why lot of ppl want to smack timbaland upside the head)

There are indie artists that couldnt post their own music because some rogue AI company would post AI made music by them in the same name and thus said artist music would get struck down lol. It’s quite dystopian what is going on ngl.
