instead of a record player, was wondering if anyone has a record player setup and how has the quality been for you?
CDs are fire
its the only reason I use my Xbox blu ray drive
but since Apple Music i've been using CDs less and less -- most AM streams are as good or better than CD quality

yeah, i like streaming everything, but part of me wants to get back into physical media and feel like CDs are easier to maintain, less space, and better audio quality than record players.

I have a Marantz CD player setup. What do you want to know
CDs are fire, taking up less space than vinyl and sounds better as in they're direct digital copies

What speakers are you using for your player?
And how are you storing your CDs?

i have the Dali Zensor 1 speakers. their clarity is nice amd I'm not missing too much bass.
I store CDs like books in a shelf

Not always the case that they sounds better but if what you primarily listen to is new music then it's likely..
There are recent cases where the CD of was given a much more compressed master than its vinyl counterpart and sounds worse because of it, like A Tribe Called Quest's latest album
I used to have a CD set up and was very proud of all my CDs, I still am but my player is long gone.. it just takes up space, I play all my music off my PC. Same goes for my record player
I do have a disc drive but it's only used for ripping rare CDs I come across

I wonder why that is, either from incompetence or on purpose by labels to make vinyls sound better (i doubt this but wouldnt put it past the industry)

I think it's due to The Loudness War, something which vinyl was never a player in. Usually CDs get the same master chosen for streaming services
I have a CD player that I use as a receiver for my turntable. But I have way more CDs from back in high school that I play on occasion
i've been rocking w a pioneer elite 300 disc cd changer for the last 8 months or so. still works great after 26 years. i only really use it to listen to albums front to back, otherwise i just run flac rips from my laptop mostly.

Hey hey some of us here are old enough to have stuff from 26 years ago
how old are you
22, i grew up around the home theater boom in the early to mid 2000s so a lot of the components/tech from that era is sentimental to me personally. thinking about selling the cd changer for a higher end single disc unit sometime down the line tho.
