I want to move away from Houston.

I hate the traffic. Hate how majority of activities are based on bars or beer gardens alone vs having fun s*** that happens to include alcohol. Boring architecture. Almost no interesting nature.

What cities should I look out for? I probably need some sort of Asian or Hispanic population to cope with the food.

Budget for general rent is like $1800 - $2500.

@sab could this be moved to life?

I get the world itself is a drinking world, but at least I'm aware that there are cities where activities exist where it's not dependent on drinking.

I know NY is an exception, but there's so many things I've done in there where I don't need to drink.

In Houston, every other popular spot is just a bar or speakeasy. I've already explored and done it all in Houston.

Either ways it's the Houston congestion that's my first gripe

757 is nice, traffic goes kinda crazy fr in that Norfolk/Hampton Roads area

And the food isn't that great, but Buckroe Beach is a chill spot to be at

Traffic in Houston is maxxed out from 430pm to 7pm in a lot of places. Almost wanted to jump off a bridge during 2019 when I first got my job because it took 90 mins to get home every time.

So that's my engagement with bad traffic. Is that similar sounding to Nova?

I'm reading on Richmond being slower paced and more of a settling down with your partner vibe.

So I might skip this for somewhere with a bit more hustle.

Northeast is synonymous with traffic btw if you live in any metro area

Also, Newport News gets a lot of Bad News....but in actuality it's pretty nice in areas. Assortment of shops with a decent selection of Black Owned store fronts, local colleges, pretty strong horticultural scene if you're in to that

I'd personally recommend the 757 area, as well as Charlotte. If you looking for more of a family vibe, instead of Charlotte I'd say SC for sure

Richmond like every city has its spots tbh. I just meant more so for a relaxed city vibe with plenty of stuff to do it’s really one of my favorite cities on the east coast

move to nova, arlington/rosslyn/crystal city is right outside of dc and is definitely more of a city than anything in texas.

yes there's traffic but that's to be expected in a high density location. unlike texas there is good public transportation so depending on where you're trying to go you can just ride the metro and avoid traffic in a lot of situations.
