  • I've noticed that these channels have been becoming more hollow since 2019. It got really formulaic and boring at the tail-end of the pandemic.

A lot of these channels used to use multiple artists to make these mixes, but this is just an entire channel pumped out like 10 albums in one year.

Am I being paranoid that these channels are slowly just inserting AI produced tracks or loops for background music?

Genuinely curious, has it not always been formulaic? What is there to it outside of uploading music to YouTube

I felt like the music mixes back in 2018 were unique and diverse enough to promote a lot of unknown producers. The spotify page is just one boring ass coffee shop channel.

Like this mix has actual links and variety with the artists and covers.

I’ll always defend lo-fi even though it gets s***ted on here. I can’t speak to the quality decline since tbh I really use SoundCloud for my discovery/playlists of it but alas

    yes

same way if you type in something like "lo fi beats" on spotify and look at the recommended playlists, theyre filled with songs by either fake artists or outright AI

  • Sep 12, 2024

i wanna be a AI lo-fi hip hop to study to beat producer

  • Sep 12, 2024

To OPs point the magic really is when you find those that are creative and take inspiration from real music (especially hip hop)

That channel you posted is 100% using AI. If check the details you'll find a youtube mandated "Altered or synthetic content" label

Yah the instrumental youtube-core genre is pretty much cooked. That dude is posting a new lofi album like every three days, that aint no human making that

    Slowly?

Well 2016 to 2024 is not really fast in my eyes, but I guess it's pretty rapid from the release of AI music programs.

the rabbit hole goes further than this

a lot of AI versions of leaked songs all over DSP's with millions of plays

some aren't even AI and are just covers of leaked songs by hired Fiver rappers
