is the campaign like free roam far cry s*** like the past cod campaigns?

There’s one mission like that near the end, but it’s tolerable and even has some fun sandbox stuff you can do. Every other mission is linear.

Gun to my head I could not tell you the villains motivations or who the mask guy in the last couple missions is

Don’t play it for the story. It’s a fun little 6 hour shoot em up to turn off your brain and look at the pretty graphics.

I haven’t played a cod campaign since black ops, they’re open world far cry games now? Damn I kinda have the urge to try that out

They drop you in a “open world”, about the size of a battlefield map, with like 3 objectives that usually boils down to blow thing up. It’s very ass

MWIII is not worth the space it takes up on a hard drive

Its kinda like the bf4 launch maps, but even that had Shanghai and Zavod. Hopefully the Season 1 maps are better

Nah, they tried it with Modern Warfare 3 2023 but it was barely a campaign. Essentially just Warzone maps with some s***ty objectives but they weren’t story-driven at all. It only counts as a campaign because there’s some cutscenes that tie it together.

Black Ops 6 had an open world mission set during the Gulf War that was pretty fun tho.

No not at all, people are bugging out about a few (obvious copy paste job) missions in the past few rushed CODs where you run through a map that feels like warzone, choosing how to tackle it. Sneaking, guns blazing, killstreaks, whatever. It's more free roam in the sense of "you're here now, defuse these 3 bomb sites" or "make your way into the the boss's compound and steal the files", and you can pick your loadout and figure it out. I thought the campaigns themselves were okay, but those missions felt like busywork. The promo for the games tended to spotlight those missions and the "sneaky/multiple approach" missions where you'd have to replay it to see all of the paths.

I'm not sure if battlefield has any free roam type missions like that, but honestly I feel like battlefield campaigns were already closer to that ideal in the first place with their general structure, not as many setpieces

This is one of the first war games in a while where the stakes kinda have me like fym NATO vs an equally armed "terrorist/Former NATO/proxy" cell in BROOKLYN especially compared to the usual "Russian/middle eastern/Chinese" villains in these games

Maybe I'm just older now but it's restoring the mw2 "on the white house lawn" feeling

Changed my aircraft control scheme up to something that matches Ace Combat won two races back to back by miles. Can’t wait to try this in an actual match

Feels better to me lmao. I didn’t like how fast paced the beta was. Didn’t feel like battlefield as much as it does now imo.
