Outboard isn’t worth it unless you make over 100k/year from music imo

Worst comes to worst you can always just rent time

I hear you, eventually (one day) I'd like to get a 47 type mic, channel strip & compressor
But I see no need for it yet

My mixer has an mild eq, one knob compressor & some garbage digital effects which i might stick into my return send/channel channel on my interface tho

Sometimes it's nice to try doing a track via the mixer just for the limitations/forced workflow

I'm firmly in the 'No More Gear' box unless I trade/sell something to replace something
The Behringer SP1200 clone might make me break my rule but I reckon that'll be at least 2 years away from market.

    What's your workflow/setup like for techno/house?

In the last year I converted to a beginner hardware setup.

Got my first mpc and started to expand after that

Nice, I’ve been doing all hardware for 10+ years.

I’m so pissed rn cause my minimoog is out of tune and it’s driving me crazy

  • If yall got questions about hardware/complicated midi setups/whatever I can field them. Been doing this s*** forever

    Uhhh let’s see I’ve got a

    Minimoog voyager
    Prophet08
    A***og rytm
    Octatrack
    Erica synths bass line

Then I run it all into ableton thru several apollos and then back out into an Allen and heath px5 for summing and effect transitions.

  • I used to have a lot more but lost my original studio for reasons so this is my streamlined/everythings nice but has a purpose studio

I got a octatrack too I never use it one day I will cause that fader thing is pretty fun

  • I own

    digitone
    Octatrack
    ultranova
    afx bass station
    yamaha sy99

And I don’t use any of it anymore

I think if I had space for everything I’d prob be more inclined to but for now don’t need them

idk it’s up to you I like the elektron workflow. I’m kinda past thinking one process is better than another. If you make music you like then that’s good

But also I probably play live a lil more and that’s when the octa really shines

edit: I mean maybe I do idk , I just mean that the octa is probably more interesting in a live set than for like sampling

Is choosing between hardware or software just preference? Regarding synths in this case

depends on what u wanna do I guess? If you make like club music then there’s a long compositional history of hardware performance. That helps you kinda think about it in a cool way

But if you’re making like pop music or some rap s*** or w/e then your mileage may vary.

Ultimately it’s just about what inspires you

Like I play live without a computer so hardware is fun and synths are cool, you know what I mean?

I want to make dark club/electronic music. Would you still recommend a microkorg in that case?
