Any suggestions on a good drum machine if I want to make beats in the style of Dilla, Dre, etc.?

solid list. appreciate it.
is there a way to save the loops in the drum machine itself?

the ones with screens have the ability too, but the ones that dont do not - i do know if you buy new the box will come with a companion program vst and standalone that works with too that can save things
there are demo vid on youtube for them
but also u can always just save the loops straight to your computer, your daw project or the vst youre working with too - or just straight up export them as sound files to load up again later
i have a novation circuit from like 2015 and its pretty nice theyve released a couple new models the last years
its no MPC and its more suited for EDM perhaps but could be worth looking into
thats for standalone stuff, otherwise prob just get a midi controller if you're gonna be working with a daw
Anything but maschine
I had a maschine mikro and some other NI keyboard forgot its name
selling that s*** was a pain in the ass
OP I think you should use this:

nevermind the terrible tuba and door bell
