That’s because it was earlier and the music industry and recording technology was really born as we kind of know it around the time jazz started
The blues age was just a bunch of people in Mississippi along the delta playing the blues, it was passed through aural tradition and wasnt a commercialized thing as jazz was because that didn’t really exist yet. Really the blues goes back to the plantations
This was the foundation for all American music to follow: first jazz and rock/r&b and all the way through all kinds of pop music which is mostly versions of those
yeah I know blues started on the plantation but I was a little iffier on the genesis of jazz cause I cant get down with the early early stuff
would you say what folks stole country music (and rock and roll for that letter) like people keep saying on here or did black folks more pass it over to us and move on? at least for country it feels like the latter
