Joan Is MID
whatttt nooo cmon mann
Joan is Awful is that seminal Black Mirror type episode
s*** got wild, it was entertaining, cool tech concept and satire on todays world
I loved it,
Mazie Day was....weird
what the hell was so Black Mirror-y about that episode?
just felt like a random episode of a show, not bad but not black mirror
then that ending and I was like okay nahh this aint black mirror this is brothers grymm type s***
I guess the Camera's are the tech angle and how it can make monsters of people behind and in front of the camera but ehhhh
that last shot though, almost redeemed the whole episode for me
disgusting and shocking and..impressive lmaoo
if the last episode on the same level as the first four this is definitely the worst season for me so far
the zazie episode lmaoooooo
U liked it?
Whole time I was like huhhhhhh
but that last 10 seconds almost made up for any bad parts of it.
wow what an ending

what was so good about the last 10 seconds? She just kills herself and Bo takes a pic of it. Unless im missing something

I just liked the shock value of it, whole time you think Zazie is lowkey a good person, and then at the end she's commiting SUICIDE and chick ups her camera like...damn you dirty b\*\*\*\*
other than that the episode was alright. it didn't feel too Black Mirror-ish, I don't get the tech angle of it unless, was it just the concept of Cameras and how they can disrupt privacy and people's lives?
Beyond the Sea
Demon 79
Only good episodes this season. What a let down man.
Also that female detective in Demon79 straight gorgeous

why not Joan is Awful?
felt classically black mirror and they really ran with the concept.
and it was entertaining
That first episode is… well, absolutely awful. Nothing is more boring than a satire that calls too much attention upon itself. The concept is great. Some Charlie Kaufman type s***. But the execution is lazy. It wasn’t written by someone half as talented as the guy who gave us Being John Malkovich. In fact, it felt like it was written by one of those talentless liberal comedians. The humor doesn’t work. It’s neither subversive nor smart. It’s often vulgar but never funny like those trashy comedies from the 2000s.
A concept like this one is inherently metaphysical. It shatters your worldview, the way your relate to the world, the way you “perform” your identity. That’s exactly why The Truman Show or Synecdoche New York terrify people and make them question the way they perceive reality.
But what we got isn’t some profound, philosophical insight on the human condition. What we got is some campy s*** that tried really hard to be META and SELF AWARE. A pure work of cynicism. There’s nothing to gain from it. It’s supposed to make you think, it’s supposed to speak to your imagination. But what you get is what you see. There’s nothing beyond the surface, which is ironic because this fable urges you to find what lies behind appearances.
The ending itself reinforces the nihilistic nature of this project. You can’t destroy idols, icons and images with more idols, icons and images. It defeats the purpose.

What’s that? FACTS
With Joan is Awful, I just didn’t believe in the world. It was all really goofy, but not in a funny or entertaining way. “Yup, you signed the terms and conditions, you have absolutely no legal rights.” It’s just so ridiculously broad, it’s impossible for me to feel the stakes. And then I guess we’re supposed to be shocked, or find the meta elements funny, but we’ve seen meta bullshit like this before, it’s ultimately just cheap thrills. Quamputer? Really?
enjoyable season overall though, i liked the mixture of concepts they decided to put out, pretty solid acting across the board
nothing too mind blowing though imo
wished they could’ve pushed that ep2 reveal a little harder for the emotional effect, and i wanted more from most of the episodes but i know they gotta wrap it up somewhere
seeing people s*** on loch is craaazy!
that joint had me unnerved the whole episode
really good atmosphere

i see what u mean, felt like there wasn’t much emphasis put on the technical aspect of it past ur phone is listening to u and we’re taking it for content

Yeah that explanation just didn’t work for me
It was a way to explain the concept, without actually having to explain the concept
