Absolutely. Moderate Democrats in the early 2000’s not only went along with, but encourage this kind of brutal approach to immigration post-9/11.
Biden himself is still very much ideologically center-right and aligns with very few leftist viewpoints despite relying on leftist support.

At this point the difference between Biden and Democrats and Trumps Republican Party is that Biden can still be pressured to shift his some of his policies to appeal to the left and do things in a humane way, but he will not even try to do it until he feels the heat and has no other choice.

Obviously what’s happening with Haitian immigrants is disgusting and it’s going to be gross to watch right-wing media criticize and condemn the optics of this even though they would love it and cheerlead this type of violent force if it was happening under the Trump administration.

Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson types will sit there and say this is what “the left” is really about despite truly knowing the legislation that lead to this was spearheaded by right-wing politicians.
