As I said a few weeks ago...

    Superman: ~600M

    F4: ~500M

I think F4 will do better internationally, Marvel still has some goodwill and way lesser competition

I guess we’re going to find out if international audiences are out on superheroes or if Superman is just too American-centric and they dgaf about him

For now I’m saying it’s the latter but I’ve also been backing F4 to make more money from the start

The way WB has bounced back from that day-and-date bullshit during covid that caused them to lose Nolan has been insane. Abdy and De Luca have turned it from a studio that creatives should avoid into the studio that’s empowering filmmakers more than anyone

We need to wait till their track record is rock solid regarding empowering filmmakers

I don't think Superman specifically is the issue tho. The superhero genre in general is overwhelmingly America-centric. Nearly every superhero is from the U.S. specifically and/or outright works for the U.S. government at some point. Its the nature of the genre. I don't think F4 is actually that different here cus its Marvels old school American group too. So far this year, they've been out on superheroes entirely

Its a pretty rough time for CBMs but MCU still kinda has an edge cus its an established brand

An eventual R-Rated censorship and the length might hinder Odyssey’s chances, but I think Nolan will get his highest grossing film with it, $1.2B (around 400M Domestic, 800M overseas).

    Wait, is it rated R?

And that is a high ceiling right there

Leaks from the sets have mentioned some quite gory scenes. I don’t know if it’s 100% trustworthy though. They also hired an intimacy coordinator.

Still got the rest of this month and August

It could crawl there if it holds well

yeah I wonder the impact of F4. For instance, I could see it benefiting Superman if F4 is good or bad. If it's good, then people might be reinvigorated to try to compare the two and watch Superman again or be happy to have a good Summer of superhero movies

If it's bad, then people might want to go see Superman again if they consider it better. Overall I think it's possible and I hope it gets there.

Seems like the typical 2.5x multiplier for box office profit only needs to be 2x for Superman due to the overwhelming majority of the money coming in domestically.

It's still not out of the realm of possibility.

After opening weekend I didn't think it would even hit $600M, now that seems to be an almost guarantee.

Really great hold for Superman. I guess next weekend is the real test though. Will that hold be completely negated by it falling off a cliff once F4 hits theaters?

Under 60% tbh would be good

If Superman holds well again F4 next weekend and still performs good for the rest of this month and August before summer ends I could see it just barely making it to 700 million

A 600 something million finish is more likely though
