the Fenix Flexin song and AI allegations all over the internet had me wanting to explore how the hell we're supposed to tell what is AI and what isn't

I figure on KTT most people on here still care whether music is made with AI, so I'm making that assumption. What do you look for in music to give it away? Do you think Fenix's song is AI?

are we at the point where artists need to post their stems to prove it?

certain songs, yes, especially if it’s AI of an artist that i already listen to

but i think it’s at a point where generated vocals don’t sound different from human voices, so if it was introduced as a new “artist” it would be difficult without confirmation

real music listeners don’t care as long as it sounds good

with the Fenix stuff, i was talking to a friend about it a couple days before this all blew up, and he’s been posting sunauto files on his instagram for months as if they were songs he recorded himself. you can tell by the weird filenames.

so it’s definitely AI imo

sunauto creates a “project name” with a random title & generates a song title for the prompt, listing it like “project - title.mp3” in the file. pretty clear that’s what this is imo

How is that what we see? It says "Faded State - Wet G..."

That could easily be the song title and then the producer bounced it out saying "Wet" as in Wet vocal effects (wet vs dry is how a lot of engineers describe effects) and then G could be another word describing a plugin, or could be the key of the song or something which a lot of people do too

I'm not saying it isn't AI or isn't from SonAuto I just don't understand how this is a smoking gun. Maybe I need to go download a bunch of songs on SonAuto to understand, I tried using it a bit for the sake of the video but I didn't get the same results

imo kinda how idol music was huge late 90s-early 00s and then the myspace/blog era was a reaction to that, went from super sanitized to something more authentic
