Very true. Lupe out raps your favourite rapper on both of these albums with almost immaculate concept execution. Granted there exposure and numbers were limited. But his freestyles and practice sessions are terrifying also.

Underrated in terms of cultural impact. Especially with everything going on the last few years, it’s surprising that this album isn’t spoken about even on a grassroots level. Tons of underground artists with less follower etc than Lupe and still getting more media coverage, plays, playlisting.

Tetsuo and Youth is better than Drogas Waves to me but of course both amazing projects. Also since there are select songs on Waves that I listened to so much during the Tetsuo and Youth era its hard to not relate them more to that album like Jonylah Forever especially with the interludes of Tetsuo and Youth and violence / Violins and not hearing kids playing in winter
