I will say the one Atlanta episode with the character that was obviously mocking Chance really nailed the faux-spontaneous absurdity of the image of Chance going in the booth and recording "nah-nah-nah-nah-nah" and "IGH" and s***
but it still sounds hard 10 years later idgaf
Most classic album released in 2013 if we being honest.
This is enormous cap brother
Listening to this for the first time rn, these riffs are stupid hard
blood orange produced a bunch of it i think

Ngl there’s a whole generation that doesn’t care about this mixtape
You got fellas posting Robb banks itt and this is where you draw the line?
I always considered Modern Vampires of the City and Acid Rap to be 1A and 1B for AOTY, but honestly this is quite likely better
it still feels as fresh as it did the first time I listened...very strange to have it on apple music now ngl
"It still feels as fresh as it did the first time I listened..."
Spot on! And one more thing I like about it, I usually never listen just a track or two, it feels like an incomplete experience. I always play it start to finish! And it's got the perfect length! 38 minutes! Not too long to feel boring/a chore to listen, and not too short to leave you wanting more!
PS. I remember (5 or 6 years ago) when I stumbled upon the 2013 leak, which as we know isn't super HiFi sounding, then I found out that there were only two officially released singles, BTSTU and Jasmine, as vinyl and somebody ripped them.
I remember downloading the two tracks, and replacing the files that came with the 2013 leak. Upgrade, may I call them.
I felt slick doing so.
Boy was I wrong lol. It messed up with the vibe of the tracks, they were too polished, Jasmine being the worst offender. Ever since the beginning of the track, where the beat plays like a heartbeat, and the heavy distortion.
Thus said I removed the cleaned up files, and got once again the 2013 original.
PS. This and the samples are the reason why I still keep the 2013. The "bait ones" remastered might have high quality files, and some of my favourite tracks may benefit (track 15 All Night, got sonics to die for, one of my favourite tracks ever), and I know the opening sounds with so much soy meat on the bones, but it doesn't have the Lara Croft sample, and I've spun the album 200 times with his original vision, so the lack of the sample is a deal breaker, and a reason why the 2013 leak for me still is the definitive version. (don't forget the DSLR samples, the Harry Potter ones, etc which unfortunatly weren't cleared, here's to hoping he pulls a Hail Mary and convinces that JK Rowling b**** to clear the samples, (and all the others that weren't cleared in 2019, hopefully we get the exact content from the 2013 leak in proper, high quality for this year's 10th anniversary of the album, fingers crossed but not holding my breath lol)
