Sep 3, 2021Honestly very happy with this record, big step up from Scorpion and More Life. The updated tracks from the og demos we heard are great progressions/additions. Do wish Lie To Me made it but glad he left all the Scary Hours 2 tracks of and LNCL and went full from scratch.
For those disappointed, do you love the leaked songs you already heard before this? Were they a highlight? Imagine if you had heard them for the first time now (and all of them were still somewhat fresh/surprise changes), would that change your perception of the album? Looking from that angle, I think more people on here would be going to a better tune.

I think most Drake fans are ok with hearing the typical drake sound and we don't need him to reinvent himself. The problem with this album is a lot of the songs just are not good. I remember when he dropped Take Care, Drake said he would make a hook, then end up making a better hook, and then a bridge and all that. Now I get the sense he walks in the booth and just picks a quick hook and goes with it. I notice a lack of care overall. When you look at previous top albums the first few tracks often had a "timeless", "epic" feel.

even Scorpion had a better start with Elevate, Nonstop, EmotionlessNow he starts out with a decent intro, Papi's home which sounds like a throwaway, Girls Like Girls, in the bible, etc. They aren't bad but just pale in comparison to his previous work. I notice a lack of care or just lazy song selection, beat selection, and overall care to make "timeless" music like he used to say he makes....this is not timeless.
Out of everything you said I'll give you the better hooks. He didn't really give us that signature crazy hook. But I don't think that hurts the album
