112k for a rap group's (both niggas in their 40s and 50s) first album in 15 years.
I'm usually never acknowledging sales threads...but this actually says a lot about the landscape, what the audiences are looking for.
Like @Water_Giver said, there's younger "more popping" rappers that aren't selling this much 1st week.
wayne had 0 promo and probably no budget either
It was teased for like 2 years
Cope lol

you think so? I feel like this a one off
Slick Rick dropped last month
Snoop dropped in May
GhostFace Killa dropped in May 2024
none of these albums made noise
even Magic 3, though it was 2023, did like 1/10th of this
i think Clipse just dropped an incredible album and in turn got the sales

it's true, and you can't even say it's because of physicals. in streaming units alone, clipse sold 57k while ken carson sold 49k and yeat sold 29k.
the general public wants rap music with substance and effort. only question is if the younger generation will finally pick up the ball or keep forcing 35-50 year old rappers to carry the game.

It was a perfect storm of heavy promotion and using the exposure from the Travis beef to have people curious to check out the music, and then come back to it again.
I hope this encourages rappers to take time making an album, make their albums the main thing again, do proper rollouts, and back it up with the music.
This is crazy impressive. It’s just 10k under Lord Willin’s first week which dropped 20+ years ago.
Well deserved!

I don't think people under 30 care as much or in the same way about rap as people older than that.
Good music won. Congrats to push and malice for one of the best rollouts in recent times
the usual suspects are gon say this was because of travis and the interviews
Nash it's cause of them LV bundles

All 3 of those also had no rollouts, dated production that of course we as oldheads love, and also just…not as good
Not only was this a good album but the production was fresh, the rollout was great, and Malice came back with a goddamn vengeance.
That Wayne rollout was sad. No singles, no creative direction. He's completely disconnected from the culture. Further proven with the recent punk rock songs.

And the most important part is that the album delivered and was really good.
