The world may soon get to hear new music from D'Angelo, according to Questlove. While attending the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on November 8, The Roots drummer and producer alluded that the world might soon get to hear unreleased songs from the late Soul Singer: "You'll see soon," he said when asked about the possibility of a posthumous D'Angelo release.

"It's always the sound of yesterday but for the future, and this record's no different," he told reporter Courtney Tezeno when asked to describe the what the unreleased music sounded like.

D'Angelo had been working on an album with longtime collaborator Raphael Saddiq for several years at the time of his death, according to Variety.

Questlove will do it right, if he wasn't the lead then it would be a worry

He was always around D'Angelo for two decades now, worked on most of his stuff, and of course a master musician himself with The Roots

What are good examples of this? Feels like all of them are terrible money grabs by people not affiliated with the artist

Raphael will make it right as well. This will be a real labor of love

I know but as I’m still mourning him I just don’t know how to feel man

Even though it’s in good hands I hate posthumous albums bc we’ll never know what could’ve been

It's unfortunate to get new music from D in this fashion
I can't even really be happy about it like i would if he was still here

If saddiq is also involved with the whole thing it'll def be 100% with them two

Quest has also said in the past D'Angelo also has literal albums they've all made together n at points planned to release before things change and of course Angelo's health he's been fighting in the background (we didn't know about till recently) that's been the real hold off

So they could also release one of those finished projects, or a collection of sorts

    I def feel you

And the think that makes me personally melancholy about post releases is that the artist themselves will never be able to perform it

They not gonna have him out here looking sloppy i believe that. The Persian flaw in this rug will be that the maker will be gone. But what do they call it soul music for?

Alc and Hav just did a great job with Prodigy on the new Mobb record. It has to be like minded folks that are also musical greats. This D situation fits the same mold with Quest and Saddiq
