Except there is gray area.
"This is a free country" isn't stated in the constitution either. And if we're a melting pot, why do we spend so much on our border security and vet who comes in? English is already our official language in practice and we all know that. Only reason people oppose it being made official is because they use the lack of an official language as some sort of symbolism.
I can't debate with someone who thinks english should be America's official language, sorry dude.
I'm open minded to pretty much any political discussion but you either dig America or you don't. I believe in freedom of speech and expression and that implicitly implies freedom of language.
only 2 debates left :(
Every debate should’ve been Sanders, Warren, Biden, and Buttigieg
This entire process has been an enormous waste of time
this has to hurt Bloombergs numbers right?

What should be the official language? Official language doesn't mean you can't speak whatever the hell you want at home or in public
it just means theres a standard language for education and employment and s*** like that which is necessary
only caught the last 5 minutes. can somebody who isn't a stan summarize what happened?
Our English is different than the British one so...

I mean you LITERALLY initiated the debate when you first replied to me but w/e.
I believe in all of that too, yet I have 0 issue if it became the official language. S***, my actual job is being a linguist for the US military so this whole convo is a little ironic.

Imagine if Pete made his campaign song RIP Fredo but changed the words to “vote for Pete”

Why is that necessary? most of the people in this country know how to speak english, and if they don't it already puts them at a disadvantage so they're probably learning.

America doesn’t need an official language. We don’t need to conform to those little rules. Think bigger guys cmon

I hate all of these people so no bias here
Biden and Amy were irrelevant. Prob didn’t gain anything, prob didn’t lose any of their supporters
Same could be said for Warren. Although she may have gained a little bit by attacking Bloomberg
Pete was typical talking points without substance but he didn’t really get into the mud too much so he prob had a good night in the eyes of the moderates he’s targeting
Bloomberg got hit from all sides. But he played it off ok. Had a spat with warren about women. Had a spat with Bernie. In my personal opinion, he looked weak bc he doesn’t hit back like trump does, but again, that’s gonna play to the old moderates he’s targeting. He’s trying to be the opposite of Bernie. Had a good night in the eyes of the voters he wants. very bad night in the eyes of the far left bloc
Bernie had a typical night. His supporters surely ate it up. Nothing really new. Good night
