Did Acting Kill Joey Bada$$ Legacy??? @op
He took a 5 year long hiatus from music to focus on his acting, which damaged his career long term
Yeah the hiatus didn't do him any good, but that back and forth with the west coast was lookin good for a comeback, if he would have dropped an album all produced by Conductor Williams during that time instead of the mid album he dropped all late after the buzz fizzled out, he would have been solid.
Never watched him act but he sounded promising when he first arrived
His best tape was when he was in high school. It was also C tier 90s rap to a T , wasn’t exciting. Griselda sounded sooooo fresh for years after they came out and birthed the sound of the new 90s wave and found a way to make it not sound stale
Wild y’all think a broke, hopeful teenage rapper would have the same hunger as an accomplished actor / millionaire artist
What happened to him & his hunger???
nah
he just never really snatched the crown and had a real runaway album as he progressed and grew up
I really fw him but he doesn't give anything super different to the game
summer knights still his best project to me
probably B4.Da.$$ for me, but Summer Knights was great
I really enjoyed AABA, thought it was gonna mark a new evolution for him and his content, but then he went ghost
Hearing Waves at the graffiti shop had me f***ed up cuz it dropped in between an oldschool b-boy mix and i thought the joint was from an OG not knowing dude was younger than me…
He did that? Wtf
HOV sat him down and tried to sign him,
Tried to sign several different acts including Nas & Lupe
really the hiatus did but i guess it kind of counts since he was doing mr robot around that time
even though its one hell of a intro mixtape i just hate that 1999 is like the only thing anyone remembers from him these days cos it wasnt like that as he was coming up, summer knights is just as good and B4DA$$ is his best work
