Literally one of the worst vocalist in modern rap music…
You don’t fw his voice in the goosebumps feature??
That’s all great and all, casinos suck and he’s greedy for that, but Nas did the same exact thing and nobody makes a peep
Because Nas is a legend and all but in terms of celebrity and mainstream relevance at this point he’s kind of not relevant outside of hardcore rap circles
People search for any reason to hate on Jay like they search for reasons to hate on Bron or Drake
are ya ready kids??
"uh-huh!?"
I cant hearyouuuuuu
"HOVYY saiddd!! uh-huh??"
Jay z killed this man
Jay’s main cultural impact was the 7 years between Reasonable Doubt and The Black Album. After that, his business acumen eclipsed his music. I’m a Hov fan, but Hov struggled to make great music outside of 4:44.
Because his music has struggled to connect, there’s no bridge for the youth. MJ had hits that spanned decades and generations.
Jay is a tier above Nas. He’s an old head rapperq that had more popularity and cultural moments - mostly because of Beyoncé and Ye.
And now we have initiatives trying to remind us of what he’s done, even though he’s largely been inactive for years ( just in time for the 25th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt)
I’m a Hov fan but I agree with Ak.
Idk how you could mention his run from RD to the Black Album and say he’s struggles to make great music outside of 4:44.. unless you meant after that period. But American Gangster is on all DSPs lol And I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss his contribution to WTT at all. He hasn’t hit anyone run every time past his prime fs but Jay has classics.
Hip hop is over 50 but it’s still relatively young with the youth still discovering music.. at faster rates. I refuse to believe in this narrative that every young person don’t f*** wit Jay or rappers of his era. That’s false, music lovers are music lovers. When we were young it was niggas s***ting on rap of that era too and preferred what was popular then.. and there were young niggas like many of us who study the genre.
