I mean family is different - you have to deal with them to a certain degree.

Friends tho are chosen, for the most part.

I am not willingly going out of my way to deal with an extremist or a radical.

Im black, white (itallian and irish) & native American (Cherokee, my black grandmaa is half native half black exact while my black grand dad is full) mixed - ive had family on my moms (white) side disown my immediate family due to us being mixed and people on my dads side not like my mom due to being white. And even on the lesser extreme side, just extended family members that just "dont get it" or let some bias' slip in front me/us. Some of them yeah I still have to put up with them - to a degree, but im not going out of my way to say hello or whatever to those specifics either.

I only kinda have to deal with it in the less than desirable individuals of the overall family, but with friends I dont have to deal with it at all if I choose too.

You cant pick your family nor can you ever truly escape them all, but you can regarding friends.

I guess I don't really see them that differently. I have friends who are way closer to me than some family members. And I don't feel obligated to talk to family just because they're family.

I don't automatically f*** with family either, but they're different. I can easily choose not to associate with some guy i met at the gym 5 minutes ago, whereas its much more emotionally/practically difficult to cut off someone I care about more, have known for longer, and have to be around regularly. I have more patience with them and invest more time/energy trying to resolve our differences. That being said there are limits and I've stopped speaking to family members too.

Certain extent depending on how much you help me or how well intentioned with your life.

You can be conservative and be a friend to me if you're not actively trying to harm people or wish death actively to people because you think they're living in sin.

If they not being an ass with it I don't pay no mind. Cutting people off just cuz their politics and faith of choice doesn't align with you is always wild to me
