It's actually a myth that the western world has the most users on tiktok...it's only like 1/4 of it's user base. The rest is Asia, middle east, africa

TikTok has f***ed a lot of peoples brain up with its short clip format that gives you that dopamine rush, it’s addictive.

And it’s not just TikTok now it’s TikTok and ig reels . Millions of people watch them daily .

You have to think, people are actively trying to do dumb /stupid or embarrassing s*** so they can go viral on these platforms, they are slaves imo

i know guys who claim not to use it, "hate" it even, who send me IG reels nonstop

Eventually they'll realise tiktok algo is better (like most already have) and it'll keep growing

ppl thought the UMG/Sony issue or Trump would be the end, yet it's only gotten stronger since

Nah. Idk if its the biggest platform. Facebook or Ig are probably bigger. But its the most influential platform. The youth is on there. They create the memes and all the inside jokes which even I won’t know sometimes.

And all the content gets repurposed on Reels, Shorts etc. Tiktok is the content machine of the interenet. They drive everything

Eventually its popularity will flame out and it'll continue to exist as a shell of its former self as what usually happens with social media sites/apps, but for now it's still here and widely used in clear view

I deleted mine after my algorithm just got way too concise. Feel like it was always the same s*** and I know that’s the point but it makes me feel crazy when I sink into it for 15-30 mins at a time

Do you think people will ever get tired of their social media/tech consumption? Gen z grew up on it and are dependent but I’m curious if exhaustion will ever kick in on a decent scale

Depending on how the next 10 years go (especially if there's an even more significant tech convergence that's beyond just AI implementation online and in the arts), it's possible though I do feel it'll be 50/50 honestly. Some will want to detach while others will be perfectly fine with how things are (or buy into it even more). It's probably going to take another mass traumatic event akin to the pandemic for any kind of exhaustion to take place on a wider scale tbh
