It’s well known directors play by Marvels rules which is why they tend to hire lesser known directors. Not wishing ill on the movie would just suck if that happened.

the only time it became a real problem was with Ant-man and edgar wright, but he wanted to make a completely different movie which didnt work

i also think marvel will allow a bit more freedom, but giving full freedom to filmmakers just wouldnt work for movies that are in the MCU, all the movies are connected, especially in this phase, and they seem to know what makes fun box office moveis so i wouldnt blame em for changing stuff or having restrictions
