It’s ironic since the most interesting film in the sequel trilogy is the one where they let the director do whatever he wanted. The same can be said for the comic book movies in the DCEU with the least studio meddling.

yeh waititi's got his own thing going with the thor series and the loki series worked well because the director had a lot of say in what she wanted to do (but she's now left since marvel announced a second season without informing her lmfao)
and then you have jon watts who might the be one of the most ill-equipped people to sit in the director's chair especially with a franchise with a crazy budget a great legacy

honestly these frictions are exactly what you'd expect from a company that is trying to do what marvel/disney are trying to do rn in terms of box office performance/profits as their primary focus rather than the stories

They also took a chance with Chloe Zhao, it didn't work out critically but they def took a creative risk with that one

The movie is officially banned in China, in a new TV spot they apparently used symbols in connection to a former heresy religion. It’s gonna be interesting if Disney responds with an apology.

Chinas banned every Marvel movie since Black Widow lmao

Disney ain’t gonna apologize at this point

They even banned No Way Home which still made $1.9 Billion WITHOUT China

You’re looking at the MCU like feige didn’t just say he’s planning the next 10 years of mcu movies. Directors step into an MCU project KNOWING it’s still gonna have to be an MCU project with an entire backlog of material that’s already setup for these characters, all they need to focus on is an arc to put them through. It may sound bad to you but these directors aren’t oblivious to this lol
