the less i look at Destroy Lonely, his music is not that bad i could give a f*** about the aesthetic tbh, seems that s*** just pisses off people more eventually than helps them like something since that real life person gone let you down the more you keep relying on them to visually please you on top of already sonically pleasing you

I didn’t mean aesthetic in the literal sense like visuals moreso just in general whatever subjective feelings or attitudes people are taking from an artists music. Like Kendrick for instance (paraphrasing for brevity) saying he evokes black pride or wokeness (in the good way not post Trump way), people generally interpret Kendrick’s portrayal or expression as somewhat genuine even if he is tied to a major label

Or like Drake- many People either attach his lifestyle, perceived toughness, suaveness, the combination, etc

Obviously I’m just touching on the lyricism and general personality part, not what beat patterns or rhyme scheme make someone brain tic, etc

I just think we’re past the point where we can afford that much nuance, I think artists should be more clear in their messaging. It’s not about my literacy of it, I’m just tired of even the artists that lean positive making trauma music. To me it feels like there is a requirement there and that’s what worries me, not Doechii giving genuine perspectives on addiction. I feel like there’s bigger games being played

If u think hip hop is dying it’s cuz of ppl like what ur doing rn who can’t bother even the faintest amount of media literacy to understand a song about her life that mentions addiction issues would mention the d**** and her doing them why the hell do u expect rappers to talk about POLITICS when this simple of an idea being conveyed is hard to grasp she did do coke she portrayed her doing it and the fact she was addicted which involves doing the d*** and liking it. She said she likes pills and d**** in a storytelling song where at that point in the story she was ADDICTED TO D**** DAWG

No I just think that’s part of why she’s in her spot. And I think to get that Grammy darling level status like Kendrick got there is some weird behind the scenes dealings that goes with it that we probably don’t know. It all comes from the Dr Dre family tree and I firmly believe that Dr Dre and Aftermath was and is a conspiracy to use hip hop to spread negativity. So I believe once all those artists got in that room with Dre whether it’s Em or kendrick and then up to Doechii with TDE and the Grammy board there’s an understanding there. Operation Kendrick Lamar was to sell the public a “positive” type rapper that actually stays within the lines that they approve and still has a healthy dose of violence and trauma in the music. Really Cole and Noname should have Kendrick and Doechiis spots if we actually pay attention to the 5th element of hip hop being knowledge but I guess we left that in the past with graffiti, it seems like they’re both illegal now
