Mando& Drake fans have some weird obsession with Theo but I think it’s just because the crave for “the vault” of Drake footage he has
because they respect the come up. was a guy that was only supposed to take pics for Drake once. ended up goin on tour as his photographer and then began directing and doing treatments for his videos. has a good eye, just missed the mark on this video with the public

NLU was the exact video ppl expected and no one said “MAN this s*** predictable asf”
I say all this and still think the visuals were great but it could’ve been better
NLU wasn’t the exact video people expected, it wasn’t a big left turn but who tf predicted they were going to start the video with Tommy The Clown talking thru a peephole, then dance on storage containers & end it with an owl in a cage
Hearing Nokia & saying the video should be shot in an arcade is the most surface level idea possible

When it comes to a music video, we have to remember that the medium being serviced is the song. The visuals are there to compliment the song, not the other way around, like in a film, where the score/soundtrack is used to compliment the visuals.
I don’t think anyone is saying that, in a vacuum, the NOKIA video is bad. It’s well-shot, well-choreographed, the IMAX use is a creative swing for Drake… it doesn’t look bad on its own.
But between the black and white, lack of energy present in the direction, and overall static & still feeling in the video, it definitely doesn’t service a song as carefree, fun, and energetic as NOKIA
