100% agree with all this. Light Up was an incredibly important moment for Drake’s career and he delivered. If anything, he exceeded expectations.

Yes, but the people checking for Jack Harlow don’t give a f*** about his bars or his pen game, they just wanna hear palatable and accessible pop rap. He’s giving them exactly that.
Drake was tryna prove himself as a lyricist and as an actual force to be reckoned with and respected in the rap game. Jack’s not tryna do that or appeal to that crowd whatsoever.

Not harsh at all really, if a verse is average then it’s average. That simple. There was nothing interesting in his bars. Nothing that really creates any discussion behind them, wordplay is as vanilla as it gets.
This type of song he’s just not ready for yet. This verse might’ve been cool on a catchy song but this isn’t that.
