It really feels like we have our Spielberg and Cameron. Incredible incredible incredible year for big artistic blockbuster cinema
I remember release of the first dune on midnight and i love it but i saw dune Part two 2 months after release tbh seingthus s*** changed my life
Sandgren’s cinematography

This looks f***ing legendary. I can't believe Denis is going to make a perfect Dune trilogy.
What's horrible is that Friggin MCU Doomsday will make more f***ing money.
Insane how this is actually going to be the best looking film of the 3
f*** yeah dude YEAH man!!!!

The unsung heroes of this shot really are hair/make-up and costumes. Really amazing work capturing the aesthetics of that era of sci-fi films.

I’ve seen this comparison, and they’re pretty generation defining, but this is only by default since Nolan and Denis are some of the only artistic populist directors, no? All four are artistic populist directors but Spielberg and Cameron made populist films to appeal to everyone, while it seems like Nolan and Denis make populist films intended to be above “everyone” appeal
Not nitpicking that but the two approaches seem fundamentally different
just saw the new teaser bro
timmy and denis going 3/3 can’t wait
MAJOR BOOK SPOILERS speculating on how it's adapted
i wonder what brings chani back to paul.. maybe she becomes the voice of reason during or after the holy wars. she’s gotta end up near him again somehow for the twins to happen. he might seed the pregnancy early on, but i think he’ll save her tragic fate for the end. messiah doesn’t have a ton of action outside of paul going blind and the ending with leto ii, so i wouldn’t be surprised if denis adds holy war flashbacks. the grand scale of the war is mentioned in the book, he could use those descriptions to build out those scenes, maybe even show paul doing or defending brutal war crimes in the name of peace. the dangers of hero worship and the decline of arrakis won’t be enough on their own, i don’t think. adding that kind of violence would give the story more weight and make his downfall hit harder without leaning on hitler comparisons. curious how he’ll handle it all.
he was asked about adding more action to messiah and said, "there are descriptions about battles that happen in vague terms after the fact between two people in the dune books, and you have to dig into those descriptions to get the rich cinematic material. we will have the same approach around dune messiah.” which to me confirms what i was saying above.
teaser and trailers proving me right
