DS1 still the best game imo

At least better than demon souls and ds2. I haven't played ds3 or sekiro yet

Dark Souls 1 is a horrible entry for newcomers imo if we speaking From Soft because all of their contemporary games (Bloodborne, DS3, Sekiro & from the looks ER) have been much more fluent, polished and fast paced compared to DS1

Sure, its the real entry point of Soulsborne/like games (fully disrespecting Demons Souls bc most bosses were gimmick bosses) but as someone who got into their work later and isn’t blinded by nostalgia, i can confidently say i hold both BB & DS3 in a much higher regard

DS1 suffers from feeling clunky, being that much more unwelcoming to new players and half of the boss roster sucking ass (which to me is supposed to be the main attraction in these games)

Real for recognising how gimmicky Demon Souls bosses were, played the remake and the majority of the bosses were just extremely underwhelming

He probably made the story for this in a month.

His story already ruined in the show and it would take years to finish the series at this
    Pace.

Even though he keeps saying he's made progress. I don't think that man has wrote a page since season 2 of thrones

The George RR Martin influence has been less than what people expect, he laid the groundwork for this world but FromSoft is known for their characters and lore etc, they def done most of the heavy lifting

Miyazaki himself even said that he changed the appearance of all the characters GRRM came up with, to the point of him probably not recognizing his own creations anymore

He no longer has the passion for GOT as he once had, which is understandable but still... Just wrap it up b. Will tune in for the prequel show tho

Oh. Deadass thought gameplay would have a generous amount of dialogue in addition to lore etc

Ofc there will be, like always with FromSoft, and probably even more now that there's an open world. I'm just saying that most of that will probably not be penned by GRRM, or at least won't be the same text he originally penned

And i'm glad, because i really like Miyazaki's style a lot more

im kinda excited for a real authors influence on the from software games. Now this is a super odd and bad criticism but it´s still something that atleast worried me a little bit and thats the fact some of their big bosses more and more felt like Anime than folktale.

Maybe George RR martins influence might help them having more in their portfolio than self sacrificing heroes getting corrupted by the thing they wanted to destroy.

  • Feb 2, 2022

even if he probably just send in a couple of character ideas he had in the drafts

of course it is (marketing potential cant go untapped), but it is also not negligible influence/involvement.

Miyazaki said that George RR Martin basically wrote about the world and some key players in it set long before the events of ER

It has been stated that Miyazaki and From took the characters GRRM created and morphed them into something totally different so yea

Wait are you srs? Half of these are exactly what I was talking about

Dark Sun Gwyndolin - Son of a god who was raised as a woman and master of illusions. Even faked a whole ass sun in Anor Londo

Ornstein & Smough - The last 2 guardians of Anor Londo, one was important in the war against dragons as dragonslayer. The other a simple executioner who was always jealous of his ''friend''

Abyss Watchers - Fanboys of Artorias who ended up being everything he didn't stand for. A genius commentary on how as time goes on the people we look up to as heroes their stories get twisted in time

Pontiff Sulyvahn - A man who wrongfully declared himself pontiff and did many many horrible things, gave out rings that turned his loyal servants into beasts

Aldrich - A man who devoured so many people, that he eventually turned into a f***ing giant blob and who ended up going after the gods themself

Oceiros The Consumed King - A king that lost his mind because of his obsession with dragons. Has a invisible baby (which may or not be real) that he says is a child of dragons. Has ties to Seath, the scaleless dragon who betrayed his own kind

Nameless King - We find out this is Gwyn's long lost son. God of war. Erased from history after he defected and sided with the dragons

Soul Of Cinder - An algumation of everybody that kindled the flame

Orphan of Kos - The child of a deceased Great One that has cursed the hunters after they raided the Fishing Hamlet with a never ending nightmare

Gerhman The First Hunter - The first hunter, as his names states. Trapped inside of the hunters dream after he beckoned the great one called the Moon Presence

Moon Precense - A old cosmic god that has the ability to make new dimensions and can influence things on earth

Rom The Spider - A scholar from Byrgenwyrth that seemingly failed to cross over fully and who seems stuck in his own kind of dreamscape. His existence masks the rituals that go on and he stops the blood moon from appearing

There's much more to these characters but that's in short. Now what was this again you were saying???

Gwyndolin is a tragic hero as he tries to preserve of the glorious city and guides the ashen ones to link the fire and continue the age of fire. Abyss watchers when we find them have been corrupted by the abyss, they were no exactly heroic we find out but certainly tried to follow artorias footsteps. Pontiff Sulyvahn fits the tragic hero as he literally is hollow from being unable to protect Gwyndolin from the reawoken aldrich. Oceiros is certainly corrupted also he believes his child to be bring back the age of dragons. Nameless King is indeed hollow and a hero. Soul of cinder very much a non character but also kinda all of the hollows that linked the fire and are tragic heroes. Orphan of kos I mean ok ill give you that. Gerhman a first hunter haunted by dreams about his terrible past believing to do the right thing but keeping the hunters curse to himself definitely fits. Moon presence mindless monster. Rom the spider and aldrich are both failed experiments as aldrich was created by the deacons of the deep and rom by byrgenwyrth.

And I love all these bosses plus I said I dont think my criticism is very serious it just that from soft has a knack for corrupted tragic heroes and evil experiments as bosses And I hope rr martins influence might gives us a couple more wow bosses

I mean like you said it's no big deal, but you're really not proving me any different with this tbh. Basically i could tell you something left field and you would prob still go ''naw see that def fits the bill!''

Also, mannn, i can't see in what universe someone would consider Pontiff Sulyvahn a tragic character. He's considered one of the most evil characters in all of Soulsborne history by most of the community. He didn't even try to protect Gwyndolin either, he worked TOGETHER with Aldrich

Also also also... how TF is Moon Presence just a ''mindless monster'' lmao he pulls so many strings, and is pretty much one of the most important characters in the whole Bloodborne game/world
