I was going through the castle got to where Rogier is. I noticed something was hunched over on the roof that I just came down from, so I went back up, snuck up behind him. By the time I got behind him for the sneak attack it was too late. I saw the “X to talk” prompt too late did I lock myself out of anything?

nah not at all

there's also a shrine in the game where you can undo stuff like that so you dont completely ruin quests, though there are a few things that cant ever be undone
