    First of all, it's not that serious

    Second of all you come across like RVI and Raise in that and that you already know so much and are set in your ways that I feel like I can't really recommend anything to you. Wrong of course but I understand when Fidelio says he feels like that about me.

    Third I don't really listen to jazz or classical enough to keep any of those recs in rotation. My favorite classical is Ennio Morricone who you don't even consider classical lol.

    Four I've already checked out most of those countries you just named but it's Korea and Japan that are my real blind spots which are coincidentally your favourites afaict.

    Find me some East Asian equivalent to this and I'll owe you for life;

    !https://youtu.be/uzdc0C9p9h4?si=Ypq10zawZdXMUN5z!https://youtu.be/Ke-xyqZxNHw?si=eFAGTp7Xy2jTfv0G

    Bonus points if you can coincide the recs with this thread;

    https://ktt2.com/best-songs-of-every-year-taking-votes-for-56-80474

    Starting from the beginning probably the only way you'll get me into j/k-pop tbh

    yeah I was being way to serious sorry. it was definitely the "not one keeper" comment that kind of got me going.

    But I don't feel like I'm that set in my ways. I genuinely like all genres, but obviously some a lot more than others. I love plenty of psych rock songs/albums but not nearly enough to delve into the genre the way you have. I just feel like we have such different music sensibilities that it's sometimes hard to exchange recs. There are the obvious famcore artists we both like - like Tom Waits, Nick Cave, etc. etc. etc. but there's probably not too much overlap outside of that. Even Tom Waits I'm more into the ballads and you're more into the experimental stuff (I think) You and RVI have much more similar tastes which might be why he's given you new rotations of music to listen to like you said.

    Yeah fair enough about the classical and jazz. Usually when I post a classical piece in this thread I'm just throwing something into the void that I'm aware no one will click on. Though when you asked me if Morricone was considered classical what I said was he has done many classical compositions in the past, but no I don't consider his soundtracks classical. But I find the semantics fussy and really boring so not even worth getting into. For the record he's still by far my favorite composer for film.

    I wouldn't say Korea is my favorite out of those countries but I could see why you'd think that considering my Avy and what I post. But if Rise wasn't in this thread I probably wouldn't even post that much Kpop here cuz no one else here really likes it that much anyway.

    Those two songs you posted are so distinctive in their style i'm not sure an East Asian equivalent exists but I'll go over my playlists and see what I can find lol.

    Tbh I know it doesn't seem like it but RVI and I kinda have vastly different opinions on everything and our main connection is just the desire to leave no rock unturned (excuse my pun). nobody else gives a f*** about doing as systematic dive into every notable thing in rocks and rolls history as we been doing.

    And yeah i know those examples seemed specific but it could also be like that other Japanese song I posted earlier. That could also be made is the west but it's such potent guitars it doesn't matter to me at all.

    You can tell alot about a person by asking who their favorite band of the 90s is as y'all probably know mine is Pulp.

    I suspect y'all got;

    Rise - Oasis maybe Pumpkins
    Fella, Lordie - Radiohead
    Koala, Raise, Galaxy - Red House Painters
    Eric, Gordon - AIC
    Ponytail - Dino Jr
    RVI - XTC or something
    Bizzle, VB - American Football or BTS or something

    Smashing Pumpkins are probably my favorite band of all time but yeah Oasis is high up there

    I don't think I've ever gotten combative before in the ktt2 thread or even the og ktt1 thread so congrats on that lol.

    Yeah you guys are weirdly obsessive about classic rock but I'm the same way with a few genres.

    I should have a large list of classic Japanese rock put together like you asked for. It has a really prolific history believe it or not. Busy later tonight and going to Philly tomorrow so you can expect it around Tuesday.

    I very good at pissing people off without really trying just an aggravating person

    I know everybody think im the psych rock guy but im nearly as deep into soul, funk, sythpop, britpop, etc. Well versed but allways trying to get deeper into reggae, art rock, prog, post etc. Im sure we have more overlap than you think. You dont rank Neil, Bob , Kinks, Bowie? More than just Tom and Nick surely.

    Bowie is one of my favorite artists. Objectively I think Bob Dylan is just as good or better, but I still prefer Nick and Waits. Love Neil and most of his albums but I hate that song Heart of Gold. song is trash I've liked the Kinks since I was really young but never went deep in their discography, at all. And no I don't like any of those artists more than Nick Cave or Tom Waits but Bowie and Dylan come very close. But you could easily make the case for Dylan being the best of all of them.

    I love this song cuz my dogs name was Walter and I like to picture him as the character in the song

    Yeah I concur Bob is the goat I have like 15 years of listening to him before i dove into Tom and Nick so maybe they'll catch up one day. Either way Bob paved the way for them.

    I love Heart Of Gold lol but yeah it might not even make my top 40 Neil songs.

    See if I knew that I could have been tutoring you on The Kinks this whole time I'll make you a playlist of the deep cuts and less overplayed highlights

    yeah i'm down. I don't think I have a single Kinks song in my top 400 songs, whereas all the other artists mentioned (besides Neil) have 6+ songs each.

    I like Pumpkins, RATM, Pantera, Korn and AiC WAYYYYYYYYY more than Radiohead if we’re talking ‘90s s*** bro. All britpop is about the same level to me even though OKC is ethereal.

    You're kind of a wild card tbf it's hard to pinpoint your taste. I wouldn't associate you with Radiohead though.

    I love the Pumpkins, but RHCP and Korn > Radiohead is crack talk. My favorite band from the 90’s might be Suede tbh. Also get back to me on that song I said sounds like their best ballads.
