Weird thing happened the other day. My sister, gf and I were bringing flowers to my dad's grave because it had been two years since he passed, and after a while we noticed a big dead bird laying on the ground about 20 feet away (I hadn't looked directly as at it, thought it was flowers).

It was kinda f***ed up so it was hard to tell the species but I guessed hawk or something. There was a metal tag on its ankle with a serial number and website to contact whoever keeps track of such things and they immediately emailed back with a Certificate of Appreciation lol. Apparently it was a "barred" owl that was born two years ago.

Obviously owl's are considered an omen (good or bad depends on the culture) but I didn't know what finding a dead owl could mean so I looked it up and the first thing that popped up;

"In some cultures, owls are associated with wisdom, intuition, and the afterlife, so finding a dead owl may be seen as a symbol of transition, change, or a message from the spiritual realm"

I was already tripping out because I had only just realised that he decided to do his assisted suicide on the day of Jesus' resurrection. He was a funny guy so the irony wasn't lost on anybody that he decided to go on April Fools but I doubt he realize it was that weekend
was cause there's nothing he hated more than Christians lol. Most of you have seen the 7 foot Satan statue in my living room that he carved.

I love Gene Clark, but I’m still not as high on this album as you. Listened to it twice today. Once in the car and once on headphones. Better experience with the latter, but something still holds me back on it. I think I just prefer when Gene is more stripped back and intimate. The arrangements are beautiful, but almost too big for him. He gets a bit buried sometimes.

Yeah Some Misunderstanding and Strength Of Strings are probably both in my top 20 of all time. As other people have said, Gene achieved on there what Gram Parsons didn't quite manage to when he strived to create a new "cosmic American music". Gene was just as obsessed with Cowgirl In The Sand and Down By The River as me and took that energy even further by throwing everything and the kitchen sink at it. I always found that he manages to just stay above it all vocally and it adds to the tension as he tries not to get overwhelmed.

Yeah it’s all pretty incredible and like you said that tension is interesting, but in terms of personal preference—I’ll probably always be more drawn towards tracks of his like In a Misty Morning.
