I literally quit an 80s list halfway through on ktt1 and Aruji had to count it for me. I went on a power rush in the original 2010-2016 thread because I didn't like people lists and was overwhelmed by the mass spamming of lists for the most relevant decade. There's no reason to be surprised by my erratic listening habits

I think that's why metal/heavy music in general hits people that are into it so hard. There's so much catharsis involved, and it's particularly great with processing painful emotions.

There's a lot of edgelord s***, particularly with black/death metal bands, but that just adds to it. If you're not into it all it might seem goofy but it makes sense.

These days I prefer bands like Converge and Neurosis that are more blatant about what they're talking about (they have more in common with hardcore bands anyway) but it all always hits a chord with me.

This dude called himself "Dead", sang about death and depression, and then killed himself when he was like 22. There was a lot of theatricality to his depression but that doesn't make it any less real.

Original singer of Mayhem btw. One of the most "revered"/respected dudes in that scene. Ultimately his story is just pretty sad.
