yeah I only listened finally right before CC came out and was like why the f*** haven't I been putting respek on queen b. Destiny's Child was like the only r&b group I thought had nonstop bangers when I was a strictly hip hop f***face in high school and I thought Formation was hard as bricks. I guess I only started streaming a year ago and wasn't in the pirating Beyonce mood.
Did you listen to Cowboy Carta?
I thought Lemonade and the S/t were a bit gassed up but Renaissance is quite a bit euphoric musically even when Bey is doing a bit too much vocally
B’ Day is
too

I don’t really see much value in Beyoncé’s music.
Pop music anthems rooted in black music. It’s really not deeper than that despite what critics try to make it seem.

“rooted in black music” is such a funny thing to say. Everything is rooted in black music.
You heard this b-side?
!https://youtu.be/y-Co5Kz2LuI?si=zKbw_FsMoCOm2Uu4The switch at 2:25 always makes me
Think maybe a while ago. Will peep
This site is crazy, especially with the music fanatics. Can’t take any of it seriously.
Well I'm extremely easy to agitate and I take everything personally so it's hard for me to let go

What about slow-core

Ehh, that’s a tricky road to go down. Beyoncé’s big thing has been trying to make at least one hit song out of different parts of black music: New Orleans Bounce (Formation), Afrobeats (My Power), R&B mixed with Trap (Before I Let Go), etc.

I’m too tired to talk about Beyoncé anymore. I’m gonna go back to Dinosaur Jr.

she's developing a very interesting syncretism for the Renaissance series imo. dont think it fully does it justice to leave it at pidgeonholed at the "black roots" idea like some did. and i think she's also very aware of that by doing things like including miley cyrus, post malone, willie, dolly and songs that sound like Fleetwood Mac or were produced by AG Cook
like not some totally over the top amazing deep artistic s*** obviously (its still pop, not a bad thing) but i think it is really cool and well done especially comparing the level of artistry to when she first became a star
I think I’m just becoming a boring boomer. I mostly only listen to and watch old stuff now.

Same. There’s a 24/7 livestream on YouTube that plays every CumTown episode on a loop and it’s perfect background noise.

You should check out Lemon Party. Probably the funniest comedy podcast I’ve found since they broke up.
NO S*** BUT WHY ARE YOU EXPECTING TO NOT BE POLITICAL IN THE FIRST PLACE.
and that album has more heart than you're giving it credit for and you seem so utterly baffled by this pick as if it isn't a best seller, grammy winning album. It ticks more boxes than just being a black female. If they really wanted to go all out then they'd give it to Beyonce
I think damn near all music lists f***ing suck except ours
Rolling Stone, AM, P4K updating their lists to get more ethnic
like putting faith in these “experts” in 2024 is hilarious.
With that being said I’m not mad a Lauryn and thought it would be Beyoncé at number 1
Ok , my ignorant ass was sleeping on Renaissance
@edumist @Elric
all good, it happens

All i ask for is one Nick Cave album on one of these publications

I mean that AM list didn't even have a Black Sabbath album
I mean that AM list didn't even have a Black Sabbath album
Master of Puppets is the only metal album on there
I wasn’t expecting a basic Barbie ass list like that to include anything extreme but at least throw on some Sabbath, Priest, Motörhead, Maiden, etc
