I feel like I'm going crazy over this but is Abbey Road not as deep as a puddle in comparison to their rest of their '65-'69 songwriting?. George brought his A game but I can't read anything into the lyrics of the rest of the songs other than what they express up front.

Lennon admitted the second half didn't mean a f***ing thing and was just a bunch of white album leftover stitched together. I know y'all go crazy for it and it is great but even the Beatles didn't take it seriously.

yeah but the leftovers have some sort of kinetic energy that keeps them together. Probably them takig it less seriously makes it this good to me tbh. Often times the Beatles were rather stiff in the way they arranged things (Revolver being the biggest offender here. Many great ideas but I wish that album would have been 20 minutes longer and the songs would have had more space to breathe)

Dylan, Neil, Ray, Jarvis and other wordy wordsmiths being my goats should be enough to tell you I'm a lyric fan but I guess I've probably said that id rather listen to a rap song with an average lyric and an amazing beat than a rap song with a great lyric and boring beat or something

I was printing out, studying and memorizing s*** like Wu Tangs Triumph when I was like 14 tho and have always been fascinated with a certain type of evocative poetic lyricism. Feel like I have a strong dilettante eye for good poetry.
