This guy not having at least two classic solo albums is the biggest failing of modern black music

Dre, Quik and Warren G should’ve taken a couple weeks out and cranked out some jams for him
@Koala @drjdeponytail feels weird rooting against Jimmy cause he's a dog but I cannot in good conscience ever cheer for the Warriors

I actually don’t mind these Warrios and would like to see Jimmy get a ring.. but props to the Rockets for giving them one hellova fight.
That Nuggets game tomorrow should be a good one

Just learned today that 18 of Ozu's films are lost.
Did you know that? @RASIE
Reminds me of the famous lost works of Mozart (Trumpet Conerto), Bach (St. Mark's Passion, etc.). And only 25 percent of Aristotle's work's survived (which is crazy considering his remaining work basically reshaped Western Civilization after the Muslims rediscovered it and gave it to Europe.)
Crazy considering Ozu is much more recent, though. I think a couple of Murnau's films have been lost, too @Elric. And all of Mizoguchi's pre wartime films. Probably a ton of other filmmakers as well
Gonna do some deep dives on this today.

Oh yeah almost nobody was thinking of conservation back the early silent days
countless films gone forever. Some pretty highly regarded. Some of them showed back up when a print that did it's rounds around the world ended up in some vault in South America for decades got unearthed.
And yeah another s***load of prints were lost during ww2, especially in Japan with all the firebombing and nukes. Low on the scale of tragedy for those times but tragic nonetheless.

Yeah, actually now that you mention it, it makes total sense considering the extent of the awful fire bombings.
Low on the scale of tragedy for sure. But still makes one curious how many masterpieces are lost to the obscurity of time. Not just lost physically but from cultural memory as well.

Poor old Ozu and Mizoguchi were around for so long their work suffered from both situations
Pretty well every silent film goat has some lost films. The original cut of Joan Of Arc even, which I consider the greatest ever silent film, was thought thought to be lost after a fire at UFA studios. The only version in circulation for half a century was an abomination edited by some other dude that added subtitles and s***. didn't find another copy until the 80's
a janitor found it in the storage of a mental institution in Denmark. Crazy.
