2nd side of low shrank on me
None of those songs come close to the eno masterpieces for me
Damn Subterraneans one of my all time fav joints
Had to give Murder Ballads another spin since I ordered the 33 1/3 book and every song is pretty much perfect.. then there's "O'Malley's Bar"... which may be the most dogshit Nick Cave song ever. I fr cannot believe I sat through those 14 minutes. Tis a shame on such an otherwise masterful record

That's my fav song on the album haha the one I really can't stand is The Curse of Millhaven

i love The Curse of Millhaven. Different folks, different strokes i spose. O Malley just feels so forced, like trying so hard to make some sort of long storytelling Zenith but the approach feels clunky. Nick cave sounds so awkward as he sorta stumbles between singing/talking with a mediocre melody to try to fall back on when he loses focus

Yup cause that's basically how I feel with Millhaven haha. Tbh O'Malley's took some time to grow on me but yea I love it for some years now. It reminds me of that scene in Sopranos when Chris says Hell is an Irish Bar

Pure poetry at its finest
Man, these crickets outside my apartment are loud as hell
Ill take crickets over neighbors, dogs, and screaming kids any day.

I got really lucky with my new place, was worried cause one side is attached to our house and the other side have kids and 2 dogs, but I never hear a peep out of any of them. I haven't even seen those kids or dogs, they must keep them locked inside of something lol
that score is perfect too
bra I had no idea algernon was putting out a new album

Haven’t listened to the single cause I’m waiting to peep the full album, but looks like it got a pretty good reception. Can’t wait
I think as time has went on since my massive Radiohead obsession from 10+ years ago, I've progressively grown more tired of Thom Yorke while gaining more appreciation for their musicianship. Probably why I still view Kid A/Amnesiac pretty positively while growing pretty cold on The Bends/In Rainbows. Ok computer gets a pass on brilliant musicianship alone despite, in my opinion, a rocky second half.
Overall I definitely like them less than ever before in the past. Couldn't even sit through the Smile albums I'll be honest

i never got that "second half is weak" point of OK Computer tbh.
