Yeah I also restricted it to a time. I start with The Stone Roses and end with the last Pulp record before the revival. Like I said, I just view it as the 4th wave of British rock/pop music. I think anything else is too limiting to the point of being a useless signifier. I also don’t get how Elastica counts by your definition then, as they’re just like a punk band more influenced by Wire and the less jangly non melodic sounding stuff from The Pretenders?

Its rooted in quintesentially british pop music like itchycoo park, paul mccartney, paul weller, glam, pub rock, mod and in "swinging london" 60s/70s era uk archetypes like mods and people like oliver reed richard harris pre multiculturalism pre thatcher britain plus lad culture and boozing idk
