Also this the dust thread right where are my Bauhaus truthers at?
THE BATS HAVE LEFT THE BELL TOWER
I like the Bela Lugosi song
Well yea they are predominantly prog, but maybe some of their less prog stuff could still be for you. Stupid Dream has mostly shorter cuts and that soundscape reminds me a lot of OKC which is a cliche to say but one of the defining albums in my life. I don’t consider Radiohead prog idk how u feel about them. Some friends of mine think Yorke is the most overrated hack ever but RH still mean a lot to me
In Rainbows is still my go to whenever i need a warm blanket in audio form
Obviously corny to be a stan but Radiohead are still a miracle to me.
I grew up on a farm with no cable or Internet or anything, but when I finally moved to the burbs when I was like 10 and laid my eyes on MTV, the music videos for Just and Atliens were the first things I saw
In Rainbows was the first new RH album that came out after I had fully dove into their stuff and it get a very special place for me. Being raised on Neil made Thom vocals light work for me to get into.
I like the Bela Lugosi song
Its a f***ing classic, but i was suprised to find out initially that a lot of what they made kind of strayed away from Bela Lugosi’s Dead initially
Mask is a great f***ing album if u ever wanna check out a full project by them. Its not as moody as you would expect, its actually very groove focused with some jazz influences. For me its the perfect balance of what Bauhaus is about, where they are actually fun and at times rhytmic enough to get jiggy to while still keeping their quirks
What about Bauhaus? @Elric you dont strike me as the type to fw the goth wave
I never considered myself goth but Bauhaus and The Cure have always been huge for me
I love goth
JD/NO, Depeche, Cure and especially The Banshees are like my top 4 of the 80s. Sisters Of Mercy incredible. Haven't really got into Bauhaus tho.
I definitely don't consider myself a goth lol but I heavily f*** with music with a dark tinge

Dude i wear my RH fanboyism loud and proud even tho that makes me part of one of the bottom tier fanbases when it comes to the cringe-o-meter.
They’re one of those bands where even knowing about the astronomical acclaim before properly getting into them didn’t keep me from being absolutely blown away the first time OKC graced my ears
And yeah, In Rainbows is one of the most perfect tracklists ever. 15 Step is one of my fav openers ever, Bodysnatchers never fails to get me pumped, Jigsaw Falling Into Place is one of the most suave pieces they will ever produce and Nude… brother i will never be able to finish Nude and not get choked up a bit. That track devastates me every time… that and Videotape both matter of fact

Man if u love goth thats lowkey slacking. Bela lugosi’s dead basically jumpstarted the goth wave in music

Now that im in this thread again im just gonna drop a random hot take again because i relistened to it tonight and need to get it off my chest in a safe space
Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol is overrated as the f***kkkkk

I mean bauhaus weren’t the first who made goth music technically, but they were the first to present it as a fully formed aesthetic in the way they did it
Yeah I've listened to that once or twice and
Its just way too sterile or something which i guess is the point of the album but just makes for a snoozefest of a ride that i always dreaded having to sit out the 3 times ive listened to it in full now

Yeah there's a ton of psych that is goth as hell

Never checked them out but glad somebody popular out there making psych

One of the best bands of the era you'll have to tap in one day
And probably pretty solidly one of the best psych bands after the golden era in general
Don't think they ever made a full masterpiece though but they've had some very great ones and an amazing live act

Oh its def still being kept alive thankfully, psych will never die tbh
I forgot but don’t you dislike the Arctic Monkeys and Alex Turner? Reason im asking is because i specifically love one album by them which is Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, and bumping Station to Station again all week made me realize part of why i love it so much
The title track off S2S is pretty much the blueprint for TBH+C and Turner kind of does some Bowie’isms all over that record

I do not listen to the Arctic Monkeys but I respect them after seeing them rip when opening for The Black Keys who f***in sucked live

The prolificness is what's keeping me at bay lol
Ain't got time for all that
