Sadly this is always the case lmao

I’ve been putting mine in folders by year now so I try to use s*** downloaded in that specific year. Ofc I always got my go to kits

not worth it to synthesize your own unless you're doing some Sophie type s***, theres like a million sounds out there you can tweak and layer to your liking.

if you save them eventually you have your go-to's

I’ll upload a photo of all my kits and I think it’s mild in comparison to some other users on here

if u know what kind of sound you’re looking for then you’ll know how to disregard other sounds.

Like if I want a reggaeton kick for my best then I know which kits won’t have those kicks and easily audition a couple reggaeton kicks

If I want a edm type kick then I’ll disregard trap drum stuff, u feel me.

Also I there’s a plug-in that filters your drums by similarities.
I don’t use it but of notable producers do xlnaudio.com/products/xo

Some I make myself, some are from drum machines physical and digital (sometimes I edit them), some are one shots from kits I edit (downloads and vsts)

I don't use loops or samples for anything

i love a good percussion loop (mostly foley sounds/shakers) especially after u stretch that bih

Real, I like manipulating the loops Ive made myself - for total premade loops or samples I just suck at using most loops and samples tho, I find it hard to work off of someone else's rando thing that u can't talk to them about, n the few beats I've made with samples or premade loops always turned out weak for the most for me

But I do like loops from drum machine presets it's a good inspo for idea forming and also just testing rhythms with a lil melody idea I have or to have a temporary drum machine loop to replace a basic drum template I had just as filler and structure sketching

Will say tho digital drum machine loops have made me a bit more comfortable using some form of premade loops due to how digital drum machines have their own drum rack you can still edit notes and steps - so I love how it's best of both worlds n I can take a premade that's programed and still mold it to whatever extent in both sounds n patten
