The Japanese trailer features a snippet of the FINAL FANTASY XVI Theme song by Kenshi Yonezu "Tsuki Wo Miteita - Moongazing“

So you’re telling me it’s going to get extra messy? GoT.

As cool as that preview was, when they said they was gonna show more 'RPG' I was kinda disappointed that a lore book is what they essentially meant but not that surprised; this game is as much as an RPG as much as God of War and Ghost of Tsushima is an RPG.
If the next FF is action as well I hope they add back elemental affinities or materia back
The faces all seem so stiff when talking, also a minor thing but not being able to change Clive’s fit is kinda eh. Would love different armor choices but I guess it’s just not that kinda game

By the end of the video I forgot they even said they were gonna show us the RPG elements
I think that was the goal. Just dazzle you with flashy combat until you forget this used to be an RPG series
People still b****ing over the action combat
FF has been action combat for so long now, how is it not expected at this point

Wonder if there’s gonna be mini games
Nah, Yoshi-P said there wouldn't be any sort of games like that (i.e. fishing).
You don’t think the FF brand is carrying the majority of the sales?
I feel like ever since FF has gone real time/action it isn’t like the combat is something that is universally praised. I never see FF mentioned alongside action giants like many of the platinum games or even DMC
My main issue with real time combat in FF is that everything feels so weightless and the flashiness of the combat is incongruent with the damage/results. Like you can do some spectacular looking stuff at times and you barely chipped off 1/10th of a health bar.
I’ll always prefer turn based but I wouldn’t mind FF staying action based if they just did it better. Praying this game delivers something special
dmc5 lead combat system designer did the design for 16

If it looked as stale as FFXV I’d understand the moaning.
S*** looks f***ing phenomenal
ngl i dont usually care for these games but i might try this out, gameplay looked really enticing

Still looks weightless and flashy for the sake of being flashy
Especially mini bosses/bosses where it seems like you’re doing chip damage and building up a stagger gauge
I wish they dropped a demo or just some bullshit where we could test combat
I don’t have a problem with action combat I just don’t think FF has ever blown me away with their implementation.
Still buy the games so I guess I’m just p**** tho. We all know the best FFs weren’t real time.
It's interesting that a flashback sequence is being used as a framing device for Clive's teenage years rather than just having the game start there chronologically. I can't imagine that a skilled writer like Maehiro would use a device like this without purpose.
Speculation:
I get the sense that Clive might be an unreliable narrator during the flashback sequence as it provides new context for this crucial line of dialogue from the Revenge trailer: "No matter how bitter the truth that awaits me... I will press on."
